Documents show security lapses in Arizona prisonsAn investigation by The Arizona Republic, using records obtained through Freedom of Information requests, reveals that serious security lapses continue to be found across Arizona's prison system, both at state-run and at private contract prisons, nearly a year after three prisoners escaped from the state prison at Kingman. As part of its watchdog reporting efforts, the Republic is posting the following records, which include annual Department of Corrections audits of several prisons, internal Corrections memoranda about other security issues, and correspondence between the department and Utah-based Management & Training Corp., which operates the Kingman prison under a state contract.
